In December 2024, HSE University welcomed successful candidates for tenure-track positions and postdoctoral fellowships. This year, the university strengthened its teaching and research teams with 39 international faculty members, each holding a PhD from leading international institutions such as Maastricht University, the University of Pennsylvania, École Polytechnique, Xi'an Jiaotong University, the National Autonomous University of Mexico, Hunan University, and many others.

Prof. Olga Volosyuk, Head of the School of International Regional Studies, Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs, spoke to the HSE News Service about international relations, research, and conferences organised by the School.

In February and March, a specially commissioned series of open talks by professors from Goldsmiths, University of London, will be held online. Professor Anna Furse, Co-Director of the HSE PeARL Performance Research Lab, will be hosting the lectures. In the first session (on February 3), Professor Atau Tanaka will speak about embodied musical interactions.

In December 2021, the HSE ISSEK English-language Master’s programme in Governance of Science, Technology and Innovation became one of three HSE University management programmes to receive European accreditation by the European Foundation for Management Development. We spoke to Dirk Meissner, the academic supervisor of the programme, about the significance of European accreditation, the programme’s unique opportunities for students, and student engagement in research.

Alla Fridman has been teaching at ICEF since 2001, working with the programme’s first graduating class. She witnessed the evolution of ICEF and played an active role in its development. On December 27, Andrey Maslov was appointed Director of the HSE Centre for African Studies. In his interview with the HSE News Service, Mr. Maslov talks about the Centre’s objectives, whether HSE students will be engaged in the Centre’s activities, Russian-African relations and the practicalities of doing business in African markets.

On November 4-6, 2021, the 14th Kyujanggak International Symposium on Korean Studies took place. This is one of the world’s most prestigious academic Korean Studies gatherings, attracting leading experts from various countries. Elena Khokhlova, Associate Professor of the HSE School of Asian Studies, presented the results of her research at the symposium. We talked to Elena about the event, and her interest in Korean studies, as well as HSE students’ research and interest in Korea.
