The forum was held as part of HSE University’s International Partners' Week, which coincides with Russia’s chairship of the EAEU and is aimed at connecting the strategies and initiatives of its participants in the fields of education, science, and technology. The forum was attended by representatives from 23 countries and more than 40 scientific and educational organisations. Africa has the potential to become a new economic giant. Today, African countries are interested in comprehensive cooperation and strengthening their positions in the global arena, and they look forward to receiving assistance from Russia and China in developing their technology, economy, and social sphere. Effective engagement with Africa requires training a greater number of professional African studies specialists. The XXIV Yasin (April) International Academic Conference at HSE University featured a plenary session on 'Africa in a Changing World'.

In mid-March 2023, a delegation of HSE University attended APAIE, a major annual educational conference held in Bangkok. At the conference, the HSE representatives organised a session, conducted negotiations with several universities, and met with high-ranking officials from government agencies and international organisations. Furthermore, during the conference, HSE signed a cooperation and student exchange agreement with Mahidol University, one of Thailand's top national research universities.

On April 4–14, HSE University will host the XXIV Yasin (April) International Academic Conference on Economic and Social Development. Every year, the conference provides a forum for leading Russian and international experts and government officials to discuss timely issues related to the economy and social policy.

As part of its G20 Presidency, India is hosting the Research and Innovation Initiative Gathering (RIIG). Alexey Ivanov, Director of the International BRICS Competition Law and Policy Centre and Academic Supervisor of the HSE Technology Transfer Centre, represented Russia at the RIIG kick-off meeting. The Russian delegation also included representatives of the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education and a number of research institutes.

By invitation of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, HSE University Vice Rector Sergey Roshchin took part in the Russia-Turkmenistan business forum held on January 19–20 in Ashgabat. In the round table ‘Russia-Turkmenistan Cooperation in Education: Professional Development for the Economy’, he spoke about trends in online education in Russia using the example of HSE University.

What are the main notions of the digital economy? Why will a nature-inspired approach help regulate network platforms more efficiently? What could a hypothetical merger between Elon Musk's business empire and the Chinese IT giant ByteDance lead to? These and other issues were discussed in Rio de Janeiro at the BRICS+ Digital Competition Forum, which was held by the BRICS Competition Law and Policy Centre, the FGV Sao Paulo Law School and the Administrative Council for Economic Defense of Brazil (CADE).

The HSE University School of Foreign Languages has held the second HSE LED Conference devoted to exchanging research and professional experience. Attendees included academics and teachers, experts and practitioners, language-education administrators and managers from various regions in Russia and abroad. The conference was held in person and online on December 8–9.

Today, Russia is striving to develop its relationships with the countries of East and South Asia and the Middle East. Politicians, diplomats, and businesspeople need to be aware of the specifics of Eastern states, their traditions and culture. To develop a new level of relations, it is important to provide high-quality education for Asian studies specialists. This was discussed at the First International Academic Conference ‘Oriental Civilisations: A View from the 21st Century’ hosted by HSE University. The Conference was attended by scientists from Russia, China, Turkey, Japan, Iran, and other countries.

At the beginning of this academic year, Dr Manoj Sharma became Vice President of HSE University-St Petersburg and has started to supervise the international activities of the campus, from the academic mobility programmes to partnerships with world universities.
