Interpreting at international forums, accompanying delegations, and informal communication with native speakers—students of the Department of Middle Eastern and African Studies at the Institute of Asian and African Studies (HSE University-St Petersburg) gain experience starting from the first year of bachelor's studies. HSE representatives met with Sasivat Wongsinsawat, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Thailand to Russia, at HSE University on Pokrovsky Bulvar. Victoria Panova, HSE University Vice Rector, Arseniy Meshcheryakov, Head of the HSE Art and Design School, and Natalia Logutova, Deputy Director of the Institute for Creative Industries Development, took part in the event. The parties discussed cooperation in the fields of education, culture, and creative industries, including HSE's participation in Chiang Mai Design Week.

HSE University and the Russian House in Indonesia have held the first offline INTO HSE olympiad in Jakarta. It is a new, free event in English for international school students.

An HSE University delegation led by Rector Nikita Anisimov met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Singapore to Russia Néo Ek Beng Mark at the HSE campus on Pokrovsky Bulvar. The parties discussed opportunities for expanding cooperation and promising areas of partnership.

At the end of January, Jakarta (Indonesia) hosted the IIETE 2025 international education and training exhibition. HSE University-St Petersburg and three other Russian universities represented the higher education system in Russia. Over several days, the exhibition welcomed more than 50,000 people.

HSE University is launching a joint undergraduate programme, ‘Bachelor of Arts in Russian Language,’ in partnership with Mohamed Bin Zayed University for Humanities in Abu Dhabi. This is the first Russian language programme approved by the UAE Ministry of Education.

On January 24, 2025, at the HSE University campus on Pokrovka, Rector Nikita Anisimov and representatives from key departments and internationalisation subdivisions met with delegations from South China Normal University and Kyrgyz National University named after Jusup Balasagyn. The discussions focused on opportunities for expanding cooperation in various fields.

HSE University’s Eastern Perspective expert club has held its first event—a business session dedicated to launching and developing successful businesses in India. The club was created by HSE experts to discuss tools, trends, and insights for cooperation between Russia and countries in Southeast Asia, the Middle and Near East, and North Africa. The event featured experts with years of successful experience working in the Indian market on behalf of major global corporations.

On January 15, 2025, the Russian-Brazilian Colloquium on Logical Pluralism was held at the HSE International Laboratory for Logic, Linguistics and Formal Philosophy to mark World Logic Day. This event was part of the joint project ‘Pluralistic Perspectives on Logic and Formal Philosophy,’ implemented by the laboratory and the Centre for Logic, Epistemology and the History of Science at the University of Campinas (Brazil) under the International Academic Cooperation competition.

In December 2024, HSE University welcomed successful candidates for tenure-track positions and postdoctoral fellowships. This year, the university strengthened its teaching and research teams with 39 international faculty members, each holding a PhD from leading international institutions such as Maastricht University, the University of Pennsylvania, École Polytechnique, Xi'an Jiaotong University, the National Autonomous University of Mexico, Hunan University, and many others.
